Job Description

COVID-19 continues to significantly impact our employees, families and communities. As a federal contractor, DCS is required to comply with Executive Order 14042 and the Safer Federal Workforce Task Force Guidance requiring contractor personnel to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Effective January 18, 2022, DCS will require all newly hired employees to be fully vaccinated before their start date unless they are entitled to a legal accommodation.

The Technical Writer and Editor will work as a member of a team responsible for all documents, briefs, manuals, and training materials produced, maintained, and utilized by the F/A-18 & EA-18G Integrated Product Team (IPT) organization.

Essential Job Functions:

Conduct detailed, full edits of IPT documents and presentations for grammar, spelling, punctuation, syntax, format, etc.

Conduct functional requirements management in document and modeling form.

Create, modify, and work from document templates and train staff members how to use them.

Serve as a Microsoft Word expert able to answer staff questions.

Assist staff members with documentation and modeling of new processes.

Assist team members with version control.

Record, track, and publish, as required, reports, action items, decisions, and minutes for assigned meetings and events.

Required Skills:

Due to the sensitivity of customer-related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required.

Bachelor's degree plus 3 years of relevant experience and expert-level familiarity with Microsoft Word. An Associates degree plus 4 years of relevant experience and expert-level familiarity with Microsoft Word will also be considered.

Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a security clearance for the duration of employment.

Familiarity with Microsoft Visio, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Microsoft Excel. Excellent writing skills.

Able to write clearly and concisely for a technical audience.

Teachable, positive attitude, highly motivated, and team-oriented.

Ability to perform, manage, and prioritize multiple related tasks in a time-sensitive environment.

Effectively communicate (oral and written) with tact and professionalism.

Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.

Desired Skills:

Current security clearance.

Previous F/A-18 or technical government acquisition experience.

Certificate in editing.

Familiarity with Chicago Manual of Style and U.S. Government Printing Office (GPO) Style Manual.

Familiarity with business process mapping.
