Job Description

In this position you will provide full-spectrum Signals Intelligence (SIGINT) Systems Engineer Support to various USAF Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) Sensors programs within the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center (AFLCMC) at Wright-Patterson AFB in Dayton, Ohio.

Essential Job Functions:

Assist in sensor development and integration on manned or unmanned air vehicles in areas such as integrated subsystem controls, avionics, communications/data link integration, and electrical power integration. 

Assist in translating DoD user requirements into system requirements which will be used by the weapon system contractor to design, develop, fabricate, test, and evaluate systems, subsystems, and equipment for deployment.

Assist in performing technical/mission analyses of operational requirements, assist in developing system concepts, and perform technological/trade-off study assessments of proposed designs. 

Assist in conducting analyses and trade studies to define interface requirements, establishing cost effective interface design solutions, and resolving interface problems. This support shall include reviewing ICDs, participation on appropriate Interface Control Working Group (ICWG) activities, tracking status of ICD development and problem resolution. 

Assist in producing architectures which assess the user needs, document the planned and existing systems intended to meet the needs, determine deficiencies, develop alternative solutions, and recommend a solution to meet the deficiencies. 

Assist in developing a plan to implement the chosen solution. These architectures could cover a command's need, such as, SIGINT systems for an advanced aircraft, system architecture need for a multi-user SIGINT systems or SIGINT mission sub-area architectures for strategic, tactical, and support communication systems. 

Assist in engineering support including defining SIGINT system and subsystem requirements, system analysis, integration, test & evaluation activities and identifying potential related projects to SIGINT programs. 

Assist in the areas of integrated subsystem controls, environmental control, thermal management, auxiliary and emergency power, mechanical systems, and fire/overheat protection systems. Assist with providing systems/subsystems integration support for the acquisition, development, and verification of systems and equipment. 

Apply the principles, criteria, and procedures of the DoD to include DoD 5000.01 and DoD 5000.02 as well as the policies and processes of USAF, HQ AFMC, AFLCMC Engineering Directorate, ISR & SOF Directorate and Division level to all engineering tasks.

Required Skills:

Due to the sensitivity of customer related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required.  

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited university, plus a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience and at least 6 years of experience must have been performed on DoD programs/projects in a relevant field relevant.

This position requires a Top Secret clearance (SSBI within the past five years) with Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI-DCID 6/4) eligibility on the first day of the task order.

Understand and assimilate highly complex technical information, and assist in the assessment, operational planning, testing, and transition of technology to support new USAF programs of record.

This position requires data gathering, analysis and entry, logical and systematic application of SIGINT systems engineering knowledge in an acquisition environment, and use of applicable automated systems. 

Desired Skills:

Familiarity with multiple intelligence disciplines to include, but not limited to: Signals Intelligence (SIGINT), Imagery Intelligence (IMINT), Geospatial Intelligence (GEOINT), Hyperspectral Imaging, and Sense and Avoid (SAA) Systems. 

Experience with US Air Force sensor programs for manned and unmanned aircraft.
