Job Description

DCS is seeking an experienced Software Engineer and Scrum Master to join its teams developing Air Force and Navy next-generation mission planning software.  The candidate would act both as Scrum Master and software developer on an Agile/SAFe team. This position can be conducted remotely.

Essential Job Functions:

Responsible to facilitating daily scrum, sprint / iteration planning, sprint / iteration demo and retrospective meetings.

Coaches agile practices to the team - individuals and interactions over processes and tools.

Facilitates discussion, decision making, and conflict resolution.

Shields the Agile Scrum team from outside distractions and interference.

Removes impediments to team progress.

Acts as the expert in estimation and planning for agile teams.

Supports and educates the Product Owner, especially with respect to grooming and maintaining the product backlog.Lead software development as part of a team contributing to a multi-team, multi-organization enterprise using Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe).

Assesses the Scrum Maturity of the team, and coaches the team to higher levels of maturity, at a pace that is sustainable and comfortable for the team and organization.

Builds a trusting and safe environment where problems can be raised without fear of blame, retribution, or judgement, with an emphasis of cooperation and problem solving.

Guides the team and supporting organization on how to use Agile/Scrum practices and values to deliver outstanding products and business value to customers.

Leads by example in all aspects of Agile/Scrum practices and values.

Acts as a servant leader to the team.

Take ownership of and responsibility for software products being developed.

Gain domain knowledge and provide technical leadership to a small team of software and test engineers.

Represent the team in meetings and presentations as needed, including providing technical analysis & recommendations, and the development & presentation of meeting materials.

Work with other senior engineers and architects to relentlessly improve software developed.

Provide guidance and mentoring to more junior software engineers.

Have a willingness to collaborate with other development teams, customers and users to produce the desired product that strives to exceed customer expectations.

Required Skills:

Due to the sensitivity of customer related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required.

Bachelor's degree plus 12 years of experience or Master’s degree plus 10 years of experience is required.

Ability to obtain Secret Clearance within 6- 9 months of hire date.

At least 2 years of experience as a Scrum Master.

Certified Scrum Master (or equivalent).

Ability to work with a geographically-distributed team.

Ability to perform ~50% software development work.

Experience with developing software using one or more high-level languages (C++, C#, Java) – C# is preferred.

Experience with Web Application Design and Development using one or more of the following - ASP.NET Core, React, GraphQL, JavaScript, CSS, HTML5.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Desired Skills:

Active Security Clearance is preferred.

Experience with Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe), any SAFe certification is a plus.

Knowledge and familiarity with Git.

Experience with Docker and Terraform in both Windows and Linux environments.

Experience with or understanding of Microservices architectures.

Knowledge and understanding of mission planning needs of military aviators.
