Job Description

DCS is seeking a highly motivated Assistant Facility Security Officer (AFSO) to join our team.

Essential Job Functions:

The successful candidate main duties will include:   

  • Serve as the Assistant Facility Security Officer reporting to the Facility Security Officer.
  • Conduct new hire orientations, briefings, and debriefings.
  • Maintain security records in SIMS and hard copy records. 
  • Process SF-86s for initial clearances, CVUpdates, continuous evaluation and upgrades.
  • Assist in the day-to-day security administration and operations for cleared facility under the National Industrial Security Program.
  • Coordinate fingerprinting as needed.
  • Support classified contracts to meet established security requirements such as Common Access Cards processing, visit requests, building access requests, etc.
  • Interact with Project Managers to support their security requirements for their contracts.
  • Prepare courier authorization letters as needed.
  • Conduct and track pre and post-foreign travel briefings – input foreign travel in DISS.
  • Prepare documentation for SCI billets. 
  • Assist the FSO in conducting self-inspections of all security functions to ensure compliance – at least twice a year.  Brief Senior Management Official and Vice President of Security of these findings.  Upload self inspection into NISS.
  • Responsible for processing incoming and outgoing visit requests as needed.
  • Provide assistance and guidance to employees seeking help on personal issues, especially those that might affect their clearance. 
  • Investigate, prepare and submit Incident Reports as required.
  • Assist FSO in investigating, preparing and submitting Security Violations Reports in accordance with corporate policy.
  • Assist FSO in preparing for DCSA (Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency) audits.

Required Skills:

Due to the sensitivity of customer related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required.

High School Diploma plus 8 years of experience or an Associates degree plus 3 years of experience.

Must currently hold a Secret security clearance or be able to obtain a Secret clearance.

Experience in DISS, NISS, and eQIP is required.

Self-motivated; taking ownership of projects and issues, including follow through to closure and resolution.

Strong verbal and written communication skills with attention to detail.

Strong focus on internal and external user and customer requirements.

Great attitude and willingness to learn.

FSO Program Management for Possessing Facilities Course is a plus, not mandatory – however will be mandatory within the first year of assignment as the AFSO.
