A typical day for a mechanical engineer may include:
• Analyzing problem areas in a particular industry to identify where new technology can improve on processes and procedures
• Designing new types of machinery and technologies using computer-aided design programs
• Overseeing production of their devices
• Testing prototypes, analyzing the finished products, and developing plans for improvement of future generations of the technology.
