Research Data Scientist

DCS Corp Dayton, OH (Onsite) Full-Time

DCS Air and Space Technology Sector is seeking a Scientist to support ongoing experimental research projects. As a member of our team, you will support U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) and Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) efforts in Dayton, OH. DCS Air and Space Technology Sector is an employee-owned organization with a reputation for agile and efficient development of technology solutions for U.S. Defense, Aerospace, Human Factors, and Security markets. We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Research Data Analyst to support ongoing experimental research projects. This position focuses on increasing the volume and quality of data collection efforts, as well as providing statistical and technical expertise to research teams. This role is ideal for professionals with a strong background in data collection, experimental methods, and statistical analysis.

Essential Job Functions:

Assist with the design and implementation of experimental protocols

Support and conduct data collection activities, both in-lab and remotely

Clean, organize, and analyze datasets using R (or similar statistical tools)

Contribute to data visualization and reporting efforts

Collaborate with researchers on study design, survey implementation, and participant tracking

(Optional/Preferred) Assist with basic web page development for online data collection or recruitment

Maintain organized and well-documented workflows and datasets

Required Skills:

Due to the sensitivity of customer related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required.

A bachelor’s degree with 5 years’ experience or a master's degree with 4 years' of experience is required.

Experience with R for data analysis and visualization.

Background in experimental design and statistical methods.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.

Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).

Previous involvement in research projects, including participant recruitment and data management.  

Desired Skills:

Experience with web-based data collection platforms is a plus but not required.

Experience in web development (e.g., HTML, JavaScript, PHP, or platforms like Qualtrics/REDCap).

Graduate coursework or degree in Psychology, Human Factors, Statistics, Data Science, or related field.

Familiarity with trust, autonomy, or human-machine interaction research is a bonus, but not required.
