DPSS Software Tester
Salary Range: $66,560 - $95,300
The Digital Precision Strike Suite (DPSS) software test engineer (TE) is responsible for supporting the development and fielding of applications for the DPSS group. The candidate supports the operational community by verifying software system updates to the DPSS system software configurations, including Android and Windows specific applications and reporting to the software test lead. The TE works within a team of software test engineers to conduct automated / manual functional verification, confirmation testing, and identifies and documents software defects.
Essential Job Functions:
Conducting test, documenting defect status, and reviewing derived requirements and verification methods.
The TE conducts software tests by writing detailed test procedures, developing automated test frameworks / test scripts, and participating in tests as a software test subject matter expert.
The TE documents defect status by conducting confirmation testing and recording results.
The TE reviews requirements by interfacing with DPSS systems engineers and developers to determine the appropriate verification method, assisting development of the verification statement, and verifying requirement testability.
In conjunction with the test team, the candidate develops software test documentation and procedures by developing automated and manual test cases.
The candidate supports internal tests by initializing and conducting tests within the DPSS lab environment.
The candidate supports external tests by observing and documenting test efforts outside the DPSS lab environment.
The candidate advises the software test lead on matters pertaining to the test equipment conditions, test limitations, test execution, and test results.
Required Skills:
Due to the sensitivity of customer related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required.
Bachelors in a relevant field, such as: computer and information technology, software engineering, mathematics, and engineering, with 2 years of experience as a software test engineer or similar role.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance for continued employment.
Proficiency with OOP programming languages such as C#, Java, Python or C++.
Experience in developing and debugging Android applications.
Experience with development lifecycle tools such as Atlassian, Rationale, etc.
The candidate is required to become familiar with the various DPSS applications and operate the applications as a system operator.
The position will require occasional overnight travel.
Desired Skills:
Familiarity with automated test software is highly desired.
Familiarity with the Atlassian suite of software, including Confluence and Jira (or comparable software development lifecycle software).
Microsoft Office applications is highly desired.
Relevant industry certifications, such as the Certified Associate in Software Testing (CAST) or the International Software Testing Qualifications Board (ISTQB) Certification.
