Software Systems Engineer

DCS Corp Dayton, OH (Onsite) Full-Time

The DCS Air & Space Technology (AST) Sector is seeking a Software Systems Engineer to support extensive high visibility Modeling, Simulation, and Analysis (MS&A) efforts. As a member of our team in Dayton, OH, you will provide expert guidance and support for software-intensive systems within the Modeling and Simulation (M&S) community, specifically under the Software Acquisition Pathway (SWAP). This position will play a critical role in enabling rapid, iterative delivery of software capabilities by supporting modern development practices, user engagement, and robust technical strategies across multiple domains.

Essential Job Functions:

Guide and support the development, documentation, and management of software requirements at multiple classification levels, ensuring alignment with agile methodologies and strategic capability needs.

Establish and facilitate user-centric engagement and feedback processes throughout the software lifecycle, while documenting and enforcing governance frameworks to support effective collaboration and decision-making.

Define, document, and evolve software architectures that support a government open-source model, ensure compatibility across diverse suppliers, and align with mission and business constraints.

Design and coordinate comprehensive V&V strategies in alignment with DoD/DAF accreditation requirements, ensuring adequacy of testing, validation, and stakeholder involvement.

Develop, implement, and improve application support services—including help desk, documentation, and training—to meet the evolving needs of a diverse enterprise user base.

Support the development and execution of strategies to manage and protect Government intellectual property and data rights while enabling innovation and maximizing return on investment.

Required Skills:

Due to the sensitivity of customer related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required.

At least a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field with at least 8 years of related work experience.

Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.

Must be eligible to attain a Secret level U.S. DoD security clearance.

Experience supporting software acquisition programs in a DoD environment.

Strong knowledge of Agile, DevSecOps, and Lean software development practices.

Familiarity with architectural frameworks and open-source software business models.

Excellent communication and documentation skills, with the ability to engage technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Desired Skills:

Active U.S. DoD security clearance, Secret or higher.

A Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field.

Familiarity with Advanced Framework for Simulation, Integration and Modeling (AFSIM) and its application within the DoD environment.

Knowledge of DoDI 5000.02 and the Software Acquisition Pathway.

Prior work with government data rights and open architecture strategies.
