VP of Business Development
The Vice President of Business Development (VP of BD) will lead all new business growth efforts for the DCS portfolio. This position is responsible for managing and growing a robust sales pipeline, enabling the successful closure of new business opportunities, and expanding existing customer relationships.
Essential Job Functions:
In partnership with the Operations team, the VP of BD drives full-lifecycle BD processes across multiple concurrent pursuits and promoting the successful identification and launch of new strategic initiatives to drive future growth. In collaboration with the COO, Operations team, and key stakeholders, the VP BD will establish growth strategy and will lead the BD team in executing the BD strategy to include establishing strong partnerships internally and externally, executing formal campaign plans, staying abreast of competitor activity and managing the pipeline and budgets. The VP of BD will support corporate strategic planning and will maintain and report on core BD objectives and metrics.
Required Skills:
Due to the sensitivity of customer related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required.
Ability to be a skilled mentor, thought leader, and collaborative team player.
10+ years of experience in Business Development within the Defense Industrial Base.
Strong track record of success in large-scale pursuits and captures, across multiple organizations and program offices of varying acquisition sizes.
Ability to work across various Govcon customer markets to validate and capture large business prime technical services opportunities.
Ability to manage and expand growth across IDIQ and other contract vehicles.
Proactive assessment of competencies, solutions, resources, etc., related to current market demands.
Ability to identify and build strategic teams in support of opportunities.
Development and implementation of short and long-term Account Management strategies to identify and capture opportunities across the Government contracting market.
Ability to build and lead high-performing Business Development and Capture Management teams to include establishing priorities and ensuring proper resource allocations across a variety of opportunities to keep pace with demand and consistently achieving desired results.
Establishment and management of business development budgets.
Participation in M&A due diligence, JVs, divestitures, expansions, strategic partnerships, evaluation of new market opportunities, and sustainability, to ensure alignment with overall strategy and vision.
Participation in business planning activities.
Monitoring, tracking and reporting on BD pipeline, the associated new business fund budgets, the domain/market, competitor activities, and their potential impact on market share.
Strong leadership capability.
Strong ability to establish and maintain relationships.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Strong creativity, critical thinking, and problem resolution.
Strong detail-orientation and top level self organization.
Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously.
Desired Skills:
Experience managing a large team.
Bachelor's degree required; Master's preferred, ideally, in a related technical or business discipline.
