Lead Engineer - Active Protection Systems (APS)

Leads the engineering activities in support of the APS portfolio (soft kill, hard kill, CUAS, threat detection), under Product Manager Vehicle Protection Systems (PdM VPS).
Essential Job Functions:
Leads the engineering activities in support of the APS portfolio (soft kill, hard kill, Counter UAS and threat detection), under Product Manager Vehicle Protection Systems (PdM VPS).
Lead technical subject matter experts for Hardware, Software, and Platform Integration for APS effort(s).
Responsible to provide engineering input to acquisition effort milestones events and documentation.
Provides engineering strategic support to Assistant Product Manager (APM).
Directs and coordinates technical activities involved with the design, development, systems integration and production, including oversight of technical reviews and artifacts.
Identifies, mitigates and manages technical risk for the APS effort(s).
Coordinates required APS interfaces with common architecture (i.e. VPS Base Kit) to ensure software efficiencies, commonality, compatibility, and configuration management to include the cost, schedule, and performance planning activities.
Coordinates efforts related to APS M&S, system design and integration, technology trade-off analyses, vehicle performance evaluations, and laboratory experiments.
Responsible to coordinate with platform partners to capture requirements, develop integration scheme, ensure maturity of design and support fielding of the APS capabilities to partner platforms.
Interacts with S&T community and industry to understand any of the APS capabilities.
Required Skills:
Due to the sensitivity of customer related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required.
Must be able to obtain a secret clearance.
Bachelors of Science in one of the following engineering disciplines: Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace.
At least 8 years of engineering experience (or at least 6 years of experience with a Masters Degree).
Understanding of systems engineering and systems requirements development and validation.
Ability to develop vision and strategy and informally lead teams to obtain desired objectives.
Experience and knowledge of various engineering disciplines: software, electrical, mechanical.
Ability and experience with interfacing effectively with various stakeholders and leading efforts within the context of multi-disciplinary teams.
Must be able and willing to be on-site at the customer location in Warren, MI on a full-time basis.
Travel expected: less than 10%
Desired Skills:
Knowledge of the DoW acquisition system.
Knowledge of Active Protection Systems technologies.
Knowledge of ground combat vehicle and tactical vehicle platforms.
