Job Description

Perform technical writing and review of modification data packages and related documentation; secondary responsibilities as described below.

Essential Job Functions:

Primary responsibilities: Technical Analyst / Writer

Write and review modification data packages as needed for customers.

Interface with all levels of the organization including Integrated Product Teams, military commands, COMSEC Office, Airborne Instrumentation, and other NAWCWD organizations.

Participate in meetings with contractor and government personnel to resolve scheduling, planning, maintenance and other issues.

Monitor and report work performed and identified by section number in the Monthly Progress / Status Report.

Propose improvements to the processes that result in cost or time savings to the Government, if possible: actively contribute to organizational process improvement activities and task team internal reviews.

Be responsible for initiating your professional development and maintaining an up-to-date understanding of all Aircraft Instrumentation project requirements and organizational processes as.

Non-local travel, domestic and foreign, may be required.

Secondary responsibilities: Flight Clearance Facilitation

Enter data and ensure data currency of Flight Clearances with information supplied by new data on associated forms and inputs from organizational stakeholders and customers.

Update (via data entry) the Flight Clearance Data Base upon receipt of new or renewed Flight Clearance data, ensuring all database information for the flight clearance is current and correct.

Update the “Task Team Operating Procedures” in accordance with red-lined markups as provided.

Deliver standard database Data Reports in response to organizational stakeholder requests.

Maintain current and historical data in team archives and databases.

Develop, implement and administer the Instrumentation Test Support Team Master Task Schedule.

Tertiary responsibilities: Configuration Management Support

Provide configuration management for the databases, data files, drawings, procedures and documents in accordance with Task Team Operating Procedures.

Manage and track document life-cycle.

Maintain (via data entry and updates) the F/A-18 Flight Test Databases on an as-needed basis using information from the “F/A-18 Flight Request” forms and provide related reports and associated data in accordance with Task Team Operating Procedures.

Ensure timely distribution and delivery of Flight Test Data Products to the Land Range Data Center.

Required Skills:

Due to the sensitivity of customer related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required.

A Bachelors degree with some experience.  Will also consider high school diploma or GED plus eight years of relevant experience, or an Associates degree plus two years of relevant experience.

Practical knowledge (functional skill at intermediate level or higher) of common software productivity applications including MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Project, Adobe Acrobat Pro, and Filemaker Pro.

Practical knowledge (functional skill at intermediate level or higher) of technical and/or procedural writing.

Open-mindedness, trainability, highly motivated, and team-oriented.

Sound character, flexibility, resilience and positive attitude.

Ability to perform, prioritize and manage multiple related tasks in a highly-dynamic and time-sensitive environment.

Possess excellent communication skills in general (both oral and written).

Desired Skills:

Familiarity with DoD proprietary flight-clearance software applications including ePower, NAVPASS, and Airworthiness.

Familiarity with aircraft modification data packages and related formats.
