Job Brief:

Military Ground Vehicle Configuration Management!

 

This position is in support of DCS’s Ground Vehicle System Center (GVSC), Technical Data Management (TDM) team customer.  

Candidate serves as a Configuration Management (CM) Engineer responsible for maintaining the configuration for military ground vehicles, vehicle systems and associated technical documentation. As a member of the TDM team, duties include CM planning, configuration identification, configuration change control, configuration status accounting, configuration auditing, and configuration release management.

Essential Job Functions:

Primary responsibilities will be to interface with and support various engineering and project management teams and act as the Configuration Manager ensuring data integrity is maintained thru the use of proper change control procedures.

This will consist of reviewing and processing technical drawings, standards, specifications, special handling and packaging instructions, program and training artifacts, and other supporting component/product information from a CM perspective.

Processing Change Requests (CRs), coordinating and conducting Configuration Control Boards (CCBs), maintaining proper Configuration Status Accounting records are responsibilities in this role.

This work will further include review scheduling, artifact management, and following TDM control procedures related to configuration management activities and the coordination and integration of products from supplying entities.

Required Skills: 

Due to the sensitivity of customer related requirements, U.S. citizenship is required.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance.

Bachelors Degree and 5 years of experience.

Experience with developing or modifying SCM plans, policies, and procedures tailored to the complexity and scope of the developmental or operational system.

Experience with identifying configuration items, implementing change control, proper access control, configuration status accounting, and configuration audits.

Experience with industry best practices like Capability Maturity Model Integrated (CMMI).

Experience using configuration management tools such as Windchill PLC, Sharepoint and Clearcase/Clearquest to manage baselines and support product release.

Experience monitoring risks, CM related metrics, and properly managing deviations and issues within the CM framework.

Knowledge of implementing CM methods throughout the entire life cycle of vehicle and vehicle systems, from initial requirements to end-of-life.

Strong ability to communicate effectively and efficiently with individuals of various engineering and program management disciplines.
