Job Description

DCS is seeking an Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) Systems Engineer to provide systems architecture, design, requirements mapping, and information assurance of complex aviation software systems for unmanned aircraft.

Essential Job Functions:

Developing the architecture and requirements for UAS mission systems and sub-systems.

Developing architectures and requirements that enable reliable and redundant UAS operation in complex environments.

Collaborating in a cross functional team for the definition, selection and integration of sub-systems (system and components) to mutually achieve autonomous mission operations (ISR, Comms relay, electronic support, electronic attack, MUM-T, UMUM-T, civil airspace operation, marinized operation, etc.).

Supporting the development and maintenance of Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) frameworks and use of CASE (Computer Aided Systems Engineering) tools.

Support analyses and studies for affordability, safety, reliability, maintainability, testability, human systems integration, survivability, vulnerability, susceptibility, system security, regulatory, certification, product assurance and other specialties to ensure product success.

Collaborating with other teams and transferring knowledge gained on advanced technology.

Guides the successful resolution of engineering problems, serves as a consulting resource of engineering knowledge, applies the latest technological advancements to the problem.

Provides direction to design or technical staff and may lead a team of moderately experienced professional staff.

Required Skills:

Due to the sensitivity of customer related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required.

Must have an active DoD SECRET Security Clearance.

A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical, Aerospace, or Mechanical Engineering plus 8 years of experience, a Master's Degree plus 6 years or a PhD plus 4 years of experience is required.

Familiarity in multiple disciplines relevant to autonomous systems operations to include (but not limited to); embedded software, machine learning, data mining, sensor integration, data fusion, command and control, ground control stations, flight control systems, vehicle management systems, systems engineering, etc.

Experience in modeling and analysis of aircraft systems architectures.

Experience using JIRA Software, and DOORS.

Knowledge of aircraft flight dynamics, performance prediction, simulation and modeling.

Knowledge of air vehicle systems functionality.

Experience with autonomous and/or remote vehicle Requirements development.

Experience with or aptitude to learn CAMEO or similar tool to support CONOPs simulation / analysis and air vehicle functionality.

Experience or familiarity in the design, development, test, manufacturing or operation of an Air Vehicle system.

Agile Software Development Process Management experience required.

Excellent interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills.

Strong listening, questioning, clarifying and summarizing skills.

Desired Skills:

Experience with UAS, drones, or robotics.

Working knowledge of a defined software design standard (such as DO-178).

Knowledge of Future Airborne Capability Environment (FACE).
