Job Description

The Senior Systems Configuration Manager will provide configurations management support for survivability mission equipment for Army ground combat vehicle systems.  

The Configuration Manager is an overarching role and is recognized as an expert in Configuration Management who will act as a mentor to junior members of the Configuration and Data Management Team.

Essential Job Functions:

Serve as a lead member of the configuration management team and have full systems level knowledge of hardware and software Configuration Management (CM) and Data Management (DM) practices for military systems. 

Responsible for implementing the CM/DM program and will work closely with other cross-functional teams with the focus of ensuring thorough analysis of proposed changes to product design and overall compliance to configuration management policies and procedures.

Managing program configuration identification, change control, release and distribution, acting as a gatekeeper for configuration change implementation, and administering Engineering Review and Change Control Boards (ERB/CCB).

Lead member in the Configuration Management Integrated Product/Process Team (IPT) to maintain configuration control throughout all phases of the development lifecycle; managing and tracking baseline modifications and providing oversight of the CM team.

Interprets Engineering product definition and requirements from drawings and other product definition documents and accurately applies configuration item information and Bill of Materials to both the Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) tool and Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRP) tool.

Maintains an accurate As-Designed configuration within the PLM database for all end item deliverables, including all Configuration Items (CIs) and Computer Software Configurations Items (CSCIs).

Lead member of the Engineering Change Control Board ensuring compliance with customer change management requirements applying knowledge of engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain processes.

Reviews and analyzes engineering change data and coordinates changes with engineering, quality, manufacturing, and data control activities.

Monitors all release activity after Change Control Board approval, initiates tasks to effectively implement Engineering changes into production ensuring error-free completion of effort. Leads in reviews and physical/functional configuration audits (FCA/PCA) to enforce and ensure configuration procedures are being complied with per company processes.

Reviews contracts regarding configuration change management in Terms & Conditions, Statement of Work, Contract Data Requirements List, and Document Summary List to determine documentation required for each phase of project. Monitors compliance to requirements. Writes, maintains CM documentation such as CM Charters, CM Plans, agendas and meeting minutes.  Other duties as required.

Required Skills:

Due to the nature of the work performed, U.S. Citizenship. 

Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance is required.

BS Degree in an Engineering discipline with a minimum of 10 years’ experience.

Configuration Management experience implementing and maintaining IEEE-828 & 12207, ANSI/EIA-649 & EIA-649-1 and MIL-HDBK-61 or equivalent experience

Knowledge and experience in CM tools, PTC Windchill PDM preferred. Familiarity with Subversion (SVN), Bit-Bucket, Confluence, JIRA, DI2E, ACE a plus.  NDIA Configuration / Data Management or CMII Certification preferred.

HW and SW Configuration Management experience with military products and services

Strong technical background with an in-depth understanding of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and American National Standards Institute (ANSI) Y14 / MIL-STD 100 drafting, drawing and documentation standards.

Excellent oral and written communication skills, technical writing experience, and an ability to perform oral presentations in front of large groups.

Must have solid knowledge of CM/DM processes and experience administering a Change Control Board

Desired Skills:

Ability to read and understand complex military system Technical Data Packages.

Ability to work well in a team environment with minimal supervision, and communicate with various levels of management.

Experience developing US Army Ground Combat Vehicle System level II and III technical data packages (including Block diagrams, one and two wire diagrams assembly drawings, family trees, schematics and harness and cable drawings).
