Job Description

Infoscitex, a DCS company, has a Distributed Automated Sensing Laboratory Intern opportunity available supporting our Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) clients at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. It is a collaborative research experience for interns to engage with university professors, industry, and multiple government agencies to solve challenging Air Force problems in sensing technologies, including sensor processing and exploitation, object detection, tracking and recognition, navigation, geolocation, and many others. Students work with an Air Force mentor at Wright Patterson Air Force Base or nearby at Tech Edge-Works. Interns will have access to outstanding computing resources, measurement and modeling tools, and data.

Essential Job Functions:

As this Intern, you would expect to:

Undertake well-planned projects based on their interests that extend and apply their technical skills.

Interact with other students, university faculty, and Air Force mentors to improve communication skills through presentations and documentation.

Be motivated, creative, inquisitive, and have a strong work ethic.

Apply basic principles, theories and concepts to routine and standardized job tasks.

Exhibit capability to solve problems of moderate complexity.

Be required to contribute two journal articles per week with annotation to remain current in the scientific field of the project’s application.

Present briefings or presentations as required with the expectation of a minimum of one final presentation at the completion of internship.

Nontraditional students are encouraged to apply.

Requirements:

Due to the sensitivity of customer related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required.

At least partial completion of a BS degree in Engineering, Science, Mathematics, or a related technical discipline; and some related analysis experience. .Applicants must be currently enrolled at least half-time in a U.S. Department of Education Accredited Postsecondary Institutions and Programs (DAPIP) two-year or four-year College or University working towards a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) degree, and passing degree requirements.

Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information: Eligible for NAC level clearance.

Ability to commit to approximately 15 hours of work per week with the option of working during school holidays.

Ability to contribute two journal articles per week with annotation to remain current in the scientific field of the project’s application.

Ability to present briefings or presentations via video chat as required with the expectation of a minimum of one final presentation at the completion of internship.

Excellent written and verbal English communications skills.

Ability to work well in team environments.

Ability to travel, if needed.
