Job Description

This Avionics Technician position is in support of the AV-8B Joint Systems Support Activity (JSSA) located at China Lake, CA.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Support laboratory, ground, and flight tests associated with avionics and weapons integration.
  • Loads software into the avionics equipment on the aircraft and in the labs in support of the AV-8B JSSA and VX-31. 
  • Investigates fleet-reported weapons and weapons systems anomalies, request requirements changes, plan’s a course of action, respond’s to fleet with test results and further corrective action, and initiates technical publications and checklist changes as required.
  • Assist with Litening Pod avionics tracking, troubleshooting, and aircraft/laboratory testing.
  • Assists in obtaining aircraft clearances for new or enhanced weapon systems.
  • Prepares plans, procedures, and reports for weapon-related systems.
  • Prepare and track aircraft modification proposals.
  • Performs laboratory integration testing of aircraft OFPs, weapons system hardware, and weapons displays.
  • Create, evaluate, and investigate Problem Reports (PRs)/System Trouble Reports (STRs), and recommend/provide corrective actions.
  • Provides fleet training on weapons-related changes.   

Required Skills:

  • Due to the sensitivity of customer related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Obtain Non-Aircrew Certification on the AV-8B platform in-order to perform in-cockpit ground testing as required.
  • Obtain certification as a Class III Crane and Forklift operator.

Desired Skills:

  • Experience and working knowledge of the various Ground support Equipment (GSE) used for aircraft.
  • Ability to work independently as well as within a team.
  • Ability to speak/write clearly and professionally.
