Security and COMSEC Analyst
Salary Range: $70,310 - $85,000
The Security and COMSEC Specialist provides essential support to the security program by administering and enforcing policies and procedures that protect classified, controlled, and sensitive information, personnel, and facilities. This role supports general Information Security (INFOSEC), Communications Security (COMSEC), Industrial Security (IS), and physical security activities, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and mission requirements.
Essential Job Functions:
Administrative Security Support
Provide administrative support for facility information and personnel security activities.
Administer and enforce security policies and procedures related to the handling, safeguarding, marking, and destruction of controlled and classified information.
Maintain security documentation and forms (e.g., SF700, SF701, visitor logs) and ensure accuracy of program standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Analyze and research security issues, identify effective solutions, and communicate findings both orally and in writing.
Schedule, coordinate, and conduct security audits, inspections, and training sessions to ensure compliance and identify corrective actions.
Disseminate security guidance and conduct security education for personnel, including communications security training.
Rotate security functions to cross-train in all security areas ensuring operational flexibility.
Physical and Operational Security Support
Monitor and control access to classified and controlled areas.
Manage key and lock control programs, including security combination lock management and performing combination changes.
Support classified material safeguards, classification management, and secure handling procedures.
Participate in security incident inquiries by assisting with containment, interviewing, and documentation.
Develop and maintain facility security binders, alarm response lists, and call-back responsibilities.
Coordinate and assist with foreign visit notifications and visitor access requests, including issuance of Special Area Access Passes.
Information and Communication Security (INFOSEC/COMSEC) Support
Support administration and enforcement of COMSEC policies and procedures, including the safeguarding and tracking of communications security equipment and material.
Review, update, and draft communications security processes and procedures.
Develop and deliver COMSEC training to personnel ensuring understanding and compliance.
Maintain access lists related to COMSEC and AECS (Access Entry Control System) requirements.
Industrial Security (IS) and Liaison Responsibilities
Support industrial security duties by ensuring proper safeguarding of classified industrial information and materials.
Liaison with external agencies such as Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) and NAWCWD Security to coordinate security efforts and information sharing.
Ensure security policies and procedures are current, compliant with governing directives, and accurately reflect the organization’s mission needs.
Lab, Facility, and Departmental Security Integration
Collaborate with lab managers, facility personnel, cyber security, information security, and OPSEC teams to integrate security solutions and maintain a strong security posture.
Participate in and support internal and external inspections and command self-assessments to maintain inspection readiness.
Required Skills:
Due to the sensitivity of customer related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required.
A high school diploma plus 10 years of relevant experience is required. Will also consider Associates degree plus 4 years of relevant experience or a bachelors degree and 2 years of relevant experience.
Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
Experience in physical, information, communication, and operational security environments.
Knowledge of COMSEC, INFOSEC, and industrial security principles and procedures.
Experience with security documentation, audits, inspections, and training programs.
Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Ability to work collaboratively across multiple security disciplines and agencies.
Experience supporting classified environments and handling sensitive information.
Relevant security certifications and clearance preferred.
Possess high moral character and integrity.
Experience with Microsoft Office.
Desired Skills:
Defense Security System training.
NAWCWD Security mission understanding and experience.
