Job Description

Provide assistance in the development, procurement, sustainment and modification of rotary wing aircraft structures systems, sub-systems, components and equipment.

Essential Job Functions:

Provide system engineering expertise in structures design and integration, manufacturing, quality and industrial engineering, airworthiness and configuration and data management.

Assist in development and maintenance of critical structures systems engineering documentation (e.g., specifications, system requirements documents, systems engineering plans, Interface Control Documents, and hardware etc.).

Assist in the translation of requirements into prime contractor documents (e.g.., ASIP plans, sub-specifications, analyzes and test plans/procedures, etc.) to ensure the robust application of structural systems engineering processes across all program development, production, and sustainment tasks.

Understand and execute AFPD 62-6, USAF Airworthiness, through standardized processes and issuance of flight authorizations.

Assist with safety and risk evaluations for structural aspects of rotary wing systems to include compliance with MIL-STD-882, FAA safety requirements, and risk packages.

Provide technical expertise on all aspects of rotary wing aircraft structural integrity and airworthiness. The Contractor shall be knowledgeable of requirements prescribed on MIL-STD-1530, JSSG-2006, MIL-STD-1568,MIL-HDBK-1587, MIL-HDBK-1823, MIL-HDBK-6870 and MIL-HDBK-516 to assist in providing support for requirements compliance assessment in the areas of durability & damage tolerance, aircraft loads, material processes and standards, corrosion protection, Nondestructive Evaluation and Inspection, aircraft weight and Balance (T.O. 1-1B-50) and structural dynamics.

Assist with evaluating technical documents, determining sufficiency for demonstrating compliance with specification and airworthiness, summarizing findings, recommending changes, and communicating all results to the program office.

Required Skills:

Due to the sensitivity of customer related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required.

Bachelor's degree from an ABET accredited engineering program with 15 years of experience or a Master's degree with 12 years of experience is required.

Active Secret Clearance.

A minimum of 5 years working in the DoD.

Experience with Aviation Training Systems is a plus.

Possesses the advanced knowledge, experience and recognized ability to be considered an expert in their technical/professional field, possess the ability to perform tasks and oversee the efforts of junior and journeyman personnel within the technical/professional discipline.

Will demonstrate advanced knowledge of their technical/professional discipline as well as possess a comprehensive understanding and ability to apply associated standards, procedures and practices in their area of expertise (Program Office, Enterprise and Staff Level Support interface).

Must have successfully completed an undergraduate degree with a major in engineering from a college or university with an Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology (ABET) accredited engineering program(s) for the degree requirements of the position (e.g. electrical, mechanical, aerospace). Degrees in engineering technology are not considered to be qualifying for these positions.
