This is an opportunity to join the fast-paced world of engineering the next generation combat vehicles for the U.S. Military. Working as a DCS employee in Selfridge National Guard Base in Michigan, you will lead and manage hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) project teams, perform systems design, integration, testing, and provide support to the U.S. Joint Program Office (JPO) Joint Light Tactical Vehicle (JLTV), Ground Vehicle System Center’s (GVSC), Ground Vehicle Power Mobility (GVPM) in the development of the next generation of electric vehicles.
Essential Job Functions:
This position will be based out of Selfridge National Guard Base, Michigan. It is a hybrid work reporting position with up to 50% work from home and 50% work in the Office. The candidate’s responsibilities include:
Leading, managing, and coordinating programs within the Joint Program Office (JPO), such as reducing vehicle idling, incorporating electric hybrid drive trains, and integrating full battery power generation.
Provide technical leadership and expertise to project team members during the design, integration and testing of HEV systems.
Overseeing the systems engineering process and leading technical efforts associated with integrating and enabling vehicle electrification technologies onto the JLTV vehicle platform.
Lead trouble shooting, debugging, root cause analysis, and providing corrective actions and solutions.
Perform engineering analysis e.g. performance, power loading, short circuit, protective device coordination, using modeling & simulation or hand calculations.
Support the electrical safety program for the workplace.
May also be directed to perform other engineering tasks not listed above.
Required Skills:
Due to the sensitivity of customer related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required..
Active secret clearance or ability to obtain within reasonable period.
B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Technology, or Mechanical Engineering.
8 years of engineering experience, 5 years experience as a HEV or EV systems engineer.
Project management experience.
Expertise in power electronics or electric power systems.
Experience or knowledgeable with vehicle: sensors, wire and cable harnesses, ignition switches, ECU, engine and drivetrain, HMI displays, protective devices, microcontrollers, batteries, HVAC, heaters, power supplies, inverters (drives), alternators, starters, generators, and other vehicle electronics.
Experience designing electronics hardware for ground vehicle environment.
Experience with modeling and simulation tools.
Experience with engineering documents e.g. Bill of Materials, schematics (1-wire and 3-wire), assembly drawings and other documents.
Experience with root cause analysis and corrective action process.
Desired Skills:
Experience developing power electronics hardware for ground vehicle applications.
Experience managing hybrid electric or electric vehicle projects.
Familiarity with model-based design (e.g. Matlab-Simulink code generation and embedded hardware programming).
Experience with engineering change proposal process.
Experience or familiarity with Electrical Safety in the Workplace (NFPA 70E).
