Job Description

The Program Officer shall conduct detailed planning, coordination, and synchronization of program management activities for Program Executive Office Ground Combat System (PEO GCS) and Project Managers within the PEO.

The Program Officer shall act as primary interface between the PM, PEO leaders and staff, ASA (ALT) leaders and staff, and other stakeholder organizations. The Program Officer shall manage the assigned program calendars, coordinate and schedule meetings, take meeting minutes, transcribe and distribute meeting notes and action items to meeting attendees, provide the status of action items, reports, and other assigned tasks, and electronically store the material from these engagements on the PEO GCS Portal.

Acceptable experience is that which reflects a substantial role in all the required areas (planning, organizing, performing, supervising, tracking and reporting).

Experience shall include: Interface and coordinate with higher level staffs; Provide program information, analysis, and recommendations to leadership for program action and decisions; Develop battle rhythm of activities; calendar management; coordinate and facilitate recurring staff meetings; Prepare, review, staff, transmit, and electronically store on government owned systems, agenda, briefings, papers, tasks, minutes, calendars, action items, and other program related documents; and Prepare required presentation materials for on-site and off-site events.

Essential Job Functions:

Maintain project schedules and provide status briefs to Project Managers (PMs) and other staff.

Perform schedule assessments to ensure that schedules align appropriately with PM and Army-level timelines, particularly pertaining to Capabilities Sets and System of Systems fielding plans.

Proactively analyze and critique project progress and status updates for systems vehicle integration efforts.

Develop and/or provide inputs to plans of execution to include scope, budget, resource needs, material needs, and schedule.

Travel as required, approx. 5-10%

Job Requirements

Due to the sensitivity of customer related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required.

The minimum education requirement is a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business, Management, Logistics, Quality, Production, or other related field.

A minimum of 6 consecutive years, within the last 10 years, experience as a program scheduler developing and maintaining schedules of complex government or commercial engineering or technical programs (preferably ground combat vehicle systems experience).

Active Secret U.S. DoD security clearance or ability to obtain Secret clearance.

Understanding of project timelines, schedule dependencies and critical paths.

Excellent written and verbal communications skills.

Desired Skills:

Experience with DoD vehicle engineering, integration and fielding efforts.

Experience working with TACOM, PM and PEO offices within the Army Materiel Command.

Understanding of the Army acquisition process.

Familiarity with DoD ground combat vehicles.

Possess PMI's Project Management Professional (PMP) credential.
