DCS is seeking an experienced Technician in Littleton, MA to provide hands-on technical support for their growing soft goods development portfolio. The engineer will be supporting programs for CCDC-SC and CCDC-GVSC, and other government organizations. The ideal candidate is a self-driven innovative individual that thrives in small teams and performance based work environments.
Essential Job Functions:
As part of an interdisciplinary team, the candidate will assist in the development of electro-active materials and systems. This work will require extensive hands-on lab work fabricating and inspecting prototypes, analyzing materials, performing experiments, and executing integration plans. Analysis activities may include electrical, mechanical, thermal, environmental and optical property testing.
Other job functions will include:
Providing high-level support to engineers and lab users and assisting the team in taking design concepts through multiple iterations of concept development, design documentation, prototype assembly, testing and validation.
Reviewing engineering concept drawings and CAD models from engineers, determining the feasibility of design to meet project objectives in an efficient manner, and providing detailed feedback
Performing technical and logistic tasks while supporting multiple projects
Required Skills:
Due to the sensitivity of customer related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required.
An Associate’s degree with a minimum 7-10 years’ experience in an engineering environment
Must be eligible to be granted a security clearance and maintain one for the duration of employment.
Strong mechanical aptitude
Excellent problem solving skills
Ability to function with minimal direction
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite Applications (Word and Excel).
Good written and verbal communications skills.
Desired Skills:
Experience with ultrasonic welding processes and equipment
Experience with a CAD software package (e.g. AutoCAD, Solidworks, or ProE)
Experience with polymer processing
Experience with thermal heat transfer
Experience working in a machine shop
Experience with textiles production, processing, analysis and/or cut & sew operations
Experience with cable assembly and inspection
A background in a technology research setting that includes the design, development, fabrication and testing of material systems
