The Logistics Management Specialist (LMS) will support the Harpoon/Standoff Land Attack Missile Expanded Response (SLAM ER)/Joint Standoff Weapon (JSOW) Technical Project office under the direction of the Deputy Assistant Program Manager Logistics (DAPML) for the U.S. Navy (USN) Harpoon and SLAM ER weapons systems. This position will be located at China Lake, CA and will be supporting program’s logistics efforts on the Strike Weapons Integration (SWI) Support Task Order.

Essential Job Functions:

The LMS will be responsible to the DAPML in providing the team with logistics technical assistance regarding all aspects of logistics for the Harpoon, SLAM ER and AN/AWW-13 Pod.  The incumbent is responsible for ensuring that all tasks are completed in a timely and professional manner.  The LMS will assist in the development and periodic updates of all Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) documents such as Design Interface/Maintenance Plan (DI/MP), Life Cycle Sustainment Plan (LCSP), Diminishing Manufacturing Sources and Material Shortages (DMSMS) Plan, Site Survey Plans, Training Plans, Packaging, Handling, Storage and Transportation (PHS&T) Plan and Logistics Requirements Funding Summary (LRFS) and Demilitarization Plans by determining the logistics support resources necessary to test, integrate, sustain and sundown the weapon system throughout its life cycle.

The incumbent will serve as the technical specialist for a functional or program area and will assist senior logisticians to determine solutions to technical problems that occur during operational use and investigate deficiencies in Organizational and Intermediate Level maintenance equipment and propose corrective action, including support of operation procedures and equipment modification.  The incumbent must have a strong working knowledge of logistics.  In addition, the incumbent will support AN/AWW-13 Pod maintenance to ensure test assets are ready for issue.  Knowledge of general flight line operations, Organizational, Intermediate, and Depot level maintenance, Conventional Ordnance Deficiency Report (CODRs), OIS (Ordnance Information System), Cataloging, and Provisioning.  The incumbent will serve as a source of support for all NAWCWD organizations or specific organizational groups/programs in a specialty area.

The tasks assigned will involve:

  • Move, store, inventory management, and transport of test assets in support of squadron training events, as well as TPO test events;
  • Perform required maintenance inspections on the AN/AWW-13 Pod to include checking out required support equipment, perform inspections, and update pod logbooks. This will require obtaining/maintaining required certifications such as
    • forklift operation,
    • crane operation,
    • unrestricted airfield driver’s license,
    • power and air-conditioning cart usage
    • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Collect, analyze, interpreting and developing specialized information about weapons system equipment to support documentation updates (engineering drawings, specifications, technical manuals, etc.); providing such information together with advisory service to those who design, test, produce, procures, supply, operate, repair, or dispose of equipment; 
  • Develop, install, inspect, or revise equipment maintenance programs and techniques based on a practical knowledge of the equipment, including its design, production, operational, and maintenance requirements;
  • Consult, advice, train, and develop specialized information about equipment. The incumbent will provide both formal and on-the-job training as well as on-site training and technical support for newly developed and existing operational weapons, weapons systems, equipment and components. Support and advisory services to those that develop training programs for Fleet personnel will require the employee to develop, revise, update and/or review training programs including training plans, training courseware and training aides. 
  • The incumbent will develop and/or review technical manuals and other documentation in support of weapon system lifecycle.
  • Ability to work well in a team.
  • Ability to articulate issues/concerns and be able to problem solve effectively.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office products (e.g. Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is required.
  • Occasional travel - You may be expected to travel 25% of your time for this position.
  • Secret clearance.
