Job Description

The Facilities Coordinator will be responsible for the day to day maintenance operations in a 63,000 sq. ft. facility supporting engineering and light manufacturing that includes: office space, conference space, High Bay with capacity to host large tracked and wheeled vehicles, multiple overhead cranes, machine shop and welding area, loading dock, manufacturing area for electronics, cable and harness assembly and several system integration labs located in Sterling Heights, MI.   

Essential Job Functions:

Ensures facility and supporting equipment are in proper working order including:  Periodic inspection of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC systems to ensure optimal operating performance and preventive maintenance is performed.

Administer fire safety, health, and security protocols; routinely inspect, test, and maintain necessary records Maintains physical space, ensuring a safe, clean, and OSHA compliant environment.

Receives, manages, and processes work order requests; ensures problems are resolved quickly.

Acts as liaison between DCS employees and any outside contractors needed to resolve specialized problems.

Drafts and implements preventive maintenance schedules for buildings and equipment.   

Ensures safety standards are followed throughout facility.  

Participates on emergency preparedness planning team.

Applies, or assists with application, for required environmental permits, other licenses, and permits

Maintains inventory of supplies; reorders as needed. 

Maintain building functions and work with vendors to resolve problems as they arise.

Inspect for OSHA violations and other safety issues, coordinate corrective actions, and provide guidance and training to employees using the DCS training system to address any such issues.

Serves as a member on the Crisis Management, Safety communications, and Facility emergency task force

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills:

Due to the sensitivity of customer related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required.

A High School Diploma plus 7 years of experience, an Associate's Degree plus 5 years of experience or a Bachelor's Degree plus 3 years of facilities and safety experience is required.

Ability  to troubleshoot issues with plant machinery and devices; identify electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, HVAC, pneumatic breakdowns

Ability to coordinate facilities issues covered by the lease agreement with property owner.

Ability to understand building plans for mechanical and electrical system

Ability to work with electrical and mechanical contractors to implement facility modifications and installation on new equipment and machinery.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software necessary to create and maintain reports and logs. 

Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Ability to perform well in a fast-paced environment. 

Knowledge of safety regulations and have OSHA basic training.

Ability to manage multiple projects.

Experience with hazardous materials handling and shipping knowledge or experience (certification preferred).

Ability to develop and maintain policies regarding safety training programs, effective training skills.

Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and the ability to work with related Michigan regulations.

Ability to coordinate with building service providers, cleaners, landscapers, snow removal, industrial supplies.

Prolonged periods standing and walking throughout facilities.

Must be able to bend, lift (40lb at a time), stretch, climb, and crawl to maintain and inspect equipment and building systems.

Operate a crane, forklift and hand truck.

Climb and work on a ladder or lift system to conduct maintenance operations. 

Must be able to perform work in a variety of weather conditions.

Desired Skills:

DOD secret clearance a plus.

Military Driver’s License or CDL preferred

Forklift and crane operators’ license in the state of MI preferred.
