IST has an outstanding opportunity for a Biomedical Engineer to join our team in Dayton, OH at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base (WPAFB), working with our Biodynamics Section.

Essential Job Functions:

Integrate accelerometers and load cells into crash-test manikins and test facilities.

Design and build wiring assemblies to interface internal crash-test manikin and facility electronics.

Ability to solder, use hand tools, multimeter, oscilloscope, and electronics troubleshooting equipment.

Integrate novel electronic equipment into test facilities to meet our customer test requirements.

Act as an integral part of a test team providing support of Data Acquisition Systems, cameras, and system repair.

Calibrate equipment including, among other things, accelerometers, load cells, and angular rate sensors.

Travel to support dynamic testing of manikins in various regions of the U.S.


Due to the sensitivity of customer related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required.

At least a BS degree in Biomedical Engineering or related technical discipline and at least 2 years of related experience. (We have multiple levels associated with this opportunity. Candidates with advanced degrees or varying experience may be considered for alternative classification).

Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information: able to attain a Secret level U.S. DoD security clearance.

Ability to work well in a team to reach technical project goals.

While not firm requirements for consideration, we feel an ideal candidate may also bring the following attributes:

Ability to apply the principals of mechanics and dynamics to the understanding of human injury and occupant protection.

Ability to develop novel methods of testing protective equipment and pilot-aircrew safety.

Experience with Data Acquisition Systems, Matlab, and proficiency with Microsoft Office programs.

Mechanical aptitude to fix, build, and maintain electrical and physical systems.

Understanding of data filtering, post-processing, and analysis.

Technical knowledge and creativity to solve tough, substantive, work-related problems.
