Job Description

The successful candidate will assist the 36 Electronic Warfare Squadron (36 EWS), 350 Spectrum Warfare Group (350 SWG), 350 Spectrum Warfare Wing (SWW) at Eglin AFB, Florida by performing as computer client support (i.e., Helpdesk) based on user needs, maintain network assets, and troubleshoot AIS issues.

Essential Job Functions:

The 350 SWG is the technical focal point for all electronic warfare (EW) support of warfighter systems for the Combat Air Forces (CAF).

The mission of the 350 SWG is to develop and test mission data (MD) to defeat enemy radar and infrared guided missile systems, thus enhancing aircrew and aircraft survivability in combat.

This mission includes operational EW testing, MD development/validation/verification, Force Development Evaluation execution and facilitating Foreign Materiel Exploitation.

Assists Information Assurance Officer with hands-on maintenance of the unit's IA requirements.

Position's primary focus will be in the areas of computer operations, user, and desktop support (hardware and software), helpdesk, and data management.

Monitors, operates, or coordinates and assists others in the operation of computer hardware, software, and peripherals.

Utilizes computer equipment, software and diagnostic tools to perform a broad range of customer assistance, production job processing, equipment maintenance and repair and computer operations assignments.

Will be required to help customers by setting up user accounts, installing operating systems, and provide training on new software programs, among other duties.

Ensure all users have the requisite security clearances and supervisory need-to-know authorization.

Required Skills:

Due to the sensitivity of customer related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required.

A High School Diploma or GED supplemented by computer related training plus 7 years of experience, an associate degree in computer science, information technology, or similar plus 5 years or a Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology plus 2 years of experience is required.

Certification: Must meet position and certification requirements outlined in DOD Directive 8570.01-M for Information Assurance Management Level 1. (i.e., Security + CE certification).

Required to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance; capable of being upgraded to Top Secret with SCI eligibility and Advanced Programs within 6-9 months as required.

Employee may be required to take a random counter-intelligence polygraph and submit to background checks as a condition of employment and/or continued access to Advanced Programs.

The incumbent may be subject to the possibility of random drug tests.

Responding to customer requests and emergencies as needed.

Monitoring computer systems for malfunctions and errors.

Installing new hardware such as computers, and other peripherals.

Installing and updating software such as MS Office, antivirus, and operating systems.

Troubleshooting and diagnosing technical issues.

Implementing repairs and updates based on diagnostic assessments.

Generating error, diagnostic, and repair reports.

Providing customers with training on the operation and maintenance of various computer systems.

Keeping abreast of the latest developments in hardware, software, protocols, and diagnostic techniques.

Knowledge of IS security concepts, principles, and practices.

Knowledge of maintaining AIS systems, databases, web pages and creating SharePoints.

Knowledgeable and experienced a variety of operating systems including Windows, Apple IOS, and working with SharePoint and LINUX Operating Systems desirable.

Desirable, knowledge of Advanced Programs and sensitive compartmented information (SCI) security procedures.

Ability to establish effective professional working relationships with coworkers and customers, contributing to a cooperative working environment and successful accomplishment of the mission.

Ability to plan, organize work, and meet deadlines.

Capable of assisting with and working on operating system hardening techniques; knowledge of DoD Security Technical Implementation Guides and ACAS Scans.

Transfers computer files between platforms.

Provides basic repair and maintenance for computer equipment (e.g. microcomputers, disk drives, and laser printers) and may assist with testing computers and peripherals on a network to diagnose, hardware versus software problems.
